He holds the National Scientific Qualification for Full Professor in EU Law (2018) and in International Law (2023).
His research covers various areas of EU and international law, with a particular focus on citizenship, EU migration and asylum policy. On these topics, he has published extensively, including monographs, textbooks, and articles in international journals and edited volumes.
He coordinates the “Immigration, Borders and Asylum” Forum of AISDUE (Italian Association of European Union Law Scholars), and serves as an expert in International Protection and Human Rights, appointed by UNHCR to the Territorial Commission for the Recognition of International Protection in Florence, Livorno Section.
Since 2024, he has been the Scientific Coordinator and Teaching Staff Focal Point for the University of Pisa in the UNICORE 6.0 Project (University Corridors for Refugee Students, promoted by UNHCR). As of June 10, 2025, he also serves as the University of Pisa’s representative for the “Manifesto for an Inclusive University” promoted by UNHCR.
