Attraverso i confini, dentro i confini. Due giornate su trattenimento amministrativo e carcere in Italia
On Tuesday, 9 December 2025, and Wednesday, 10 December, the conference “Across Borders, Within Borders: Two Days on Administrative Detention and Prisons in Italy” will be held at the University of Pisa.
The conference aims to examine, through a critical and multidisciplinary lens, contemporary forms of confinement and the mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion they generate. Starting from an analysis of the Centri di Permanenza per il Rimpatrio (CPRs)—facilities for administrative detention, thus in the absence of criminal conviction—and moving toward a reflection on prison as an ambivalent institution, capable both of reproducing inequalities and, at times, offering initial concrete access to essential services (such as healthcare) for people long excluded from the welfare system, the initiative seeks to bring academic knowledge and social practices into dialogue, along with research and intervention experiences. The objective is to open a broad, articulated discussion on the effectiveness, legitimacy, and possible transformations of these forms of deprivation of liberty.
During the conference, the European Union’s legal framework applicable to the detention at the border of third-country nationals will also be discussed.
Participation is open to the general public.
Gli atti notarili stipulati dagli stranieri in Italia: problematiche tratte dalla prassi applicativa

Monday, November 3rd, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., in Room IV of the Palazzo della Sapienza, a seminar will be held to provide an in-depth analysis of certain private international law issues that arise when notarial deeds are executed by foreigners present in Italy.
The speaker will be Dr. Simone Anzellotti, Notary of the Notarial College of Pisa.
The seminar, linked to the activities of the Jean Monnet Module MAC-EUPACT, is organized within the framework of the Private International and Procedural Law course taught by Professor Simone Marinai, in collaboration with the European Documentation Centre of the University of Pisa.
